How it works
- A connected barcode scanner can be aimed and triggered at any time, on any screen, and the app will pick up the scan automatically.
- If you don’t have a physical scanner, you can manually type the barcode digits on your keyboard followed by Enter, and the app treats it exactly like a scan — again, without needing to click into any specific field first.
What happens when a barcode is scanned
- If the barcode matches a known product, that item is added to the current cart automatically.
- If the product has variants or modifiers, you may be prompted to choose them, same as tapping the item manually.
- If no match is found, the app will show a “not found” message rather than silently doing nothing.
When this is useful
- Quickly ringing up packaged items without searching the menu grid
- Speeding up checkout for high-volume retail-style items
- Working from any screen — you don’t need to navigate to a specific “scan” screen first
If scanning doesn’t seem to register, confirm your barcode scanner is properly connected/paired, or that you’re pressing Enter after manually typing the code.
